Housing protest, Amsterdam

On September 12, 2021, thousands of people gathered in Amsterdam’s Westerpark to protest against the current housing policy. Due to rising housing prices and years-long waiting lists for social rental homes, it has become almost impossible to find an affordable home.

This housing crisis not only affects young people and first-time buyers; therefore, the crowd at the protest was also very diverse. In the afternoon, a protest march was held from Westerpark towards Dam Square.
